What is WaterMark accreditation and why is it important?

The WaterMark Certification Scheme has regulated the use of plumbing and drainage products in Australia since 1988, with only authorised products deemed legally fit for use in plumbing and drainage installations. Until recently, relining products sat outside of the WaterMark scheme, with no accreditation required or regulating authority managing the materials or the manner in which they are utilised in Australia.

As of November 2018, it has been a legal requirement for pipe reliners to use WaterMark approved products, installed as per the Plumbing Standard of Australia AS3500. Products and techniques that sit outside of these guidelines are now deemed unsuitable for use within Australia.

At Sydney Relining, the quality of the products and systems we utilise has been of high priority throughout our 30 years looking after Sydney’s plumbing, always ensuring they are of the highest standard and deliver great value for money for our customers. It, therefore, goes without saying that Sydney Relining happily guarantees that all of our products and systems are approved within the WaterMark Certification Scheme.

With many systems and products available, developed, and distributed by brands across the globe (check out – Key things to consider when choosing your product), we’re only too glad that our niche industry is being more strictly regulated moving forwards.

However, as the consumer, you must be aware that the scheme is enforced by the state and territory plumbing administrations at the point of installation, not sale. Therefore products without WaterMark certification can be purchased openly, without any penalty to the supplier. This makes it imperative that you ask your plumber or reliner to ensure the products they’re using are certified.

You can find out more about what products and specifications require certification in the WaterMark Schedule of Specifications and if you have any questions or queries, give one of our relining experts a call anytime.

The Advantages of Pipe Relining for Efficient Pipe Repairs

Pipe relining is a modern, trenchless method for repairing damaged or leaking pipes without the need for invasive excavation. This innovative technique involves inserting a flexible, resin-coated liner into the affected pipe, which is then inflated and cured to form a new, durable pipe within the existing one. The result is a seamless and corrosion-resistant pipe that not only restores the structural integrity of your plumbing system but also improves flow efficiency. By choosing Pipe Relining, you can extend the lifespan of your pipes, prevent future damage, and minimise the risk of costly repairs down the line.

Embracing Pipe Relining as a preferred solution for pipe repairs offers several benefits, including reduced costs, minimal disruptions, and enhanced environmental sustainability. Since there’s no need for large-scale digging, Pipe Relining helps you save up to 50% in repair expenses compared to traditional methods, while also reducing the time and resources required for the job. Furthermore, the trenchless nature of Pipe Relining significantly lessens the impact on your property and the surrounding environment, preserving your garden, landscaping, and infrastructure. By opting for Pipe Relining, you’re investing in a long-lasting, efficient, and eco-friendly solution for maintaining the health of your plumbing system.
